Admissions and Transfers

The Standard Admission Number for the school is 30.

Children are usually admitted at the beginning of the term in which they have their 5th birthday.

In the event of there being a greater demand for admission than there are places available, then

  • children with a Statement of Special Need naming Marsh Gibbon Church of England School have the highest priority
  • followed by 'looked-after' children living in the catchment area, the Parish of Marsh Gibbon.
  • Once places have been offered to these children, the following criteria will be applied in the order set out below:
  1. A child with a normal home address in the Parish of Marsh Gibbon, and with a sibling already in attendance at Marsh Gibbon Church of England School at the time of entry to the school.
  2. A child with a normal home address in the Parish of Marsh Gibbon.
  3. A child with a normal home outside the Parish of Marsh Gibbon and with a sibling already in attendance at Marsh Gibbon Church of England School at the time of entry to the school.
  4. Children with exceptional medical needs, supported by written evidence, normally given by an independent medical officer or other appropriate person.
  5. Children with exceptional social needs, supported by written evidence, normally given by a social worker, Educational Welfare Officer or other appropriate person
  6. Proximity of the child’s home to the school.

The children have the option to stay at Marsh Gibbon until the end of the academic year in which they are 9. In line with County Transfer arrangements, they may leave for a Junior/Combined School at the end of the academic years in which they are 7 or 8.
